snow day and a long(ish) post...

so i said if i got a snow day i would post about life and how its going...

classes: this semester i am taking 2 -- 1 online (technology & teaching) which isn't too bad so far, but i get tired of checking and replying to posts about webpages i don't care about, lol...but overall i know the class will be a benefit since technology is so important in schools today...and the other 1 is an 8-week in the classroom class (middle school history & philosophy)...i know this class will be a lot of work, and i also know it will be 4 hours every week, but i know i will learn a lot and the professor is good...however, there are a lot of undergrads, and i think they are pretty unknowing about what life is really like in schools, but they will learn!!

work: work is going well...the kids are going a little stir crazy at times, but they are doing well...some good days & some not so good days...coming up next week is an earned field trip, so that is nice! the kids i know will enjoy it! lots of tests & quizzes right now...now to make the teachers realize that a student's IEP is what they are suppose to do, so if it says a study a week in advance they can't be giving the information 2 days before...grrrrrr!! scheduling is crazy, but we are surviving...and the snow day today is a nice addition to the week!! especially since we have 3 more built in snow days (i want them all!!!)...i am also preparing to look for a teaching job next year...it will need to be provisional since i am not certified, but i have already sent out one resume and am preparing to go to a few teacher job fairs soon...we shall see!!

scrapbooking: i have been to 3 crops so far this year -- a friday night & 2 12-hour saturday ones...i have created 24 12x12 pages, 34 6x6 pages, a mini book, and i filled in a bag book i had done in a class....whew! lots of scrappin' happening so far this year!! i am also already signed up for 2 crops in february, and i will be going to my friend cathi's for a crop next sunday afternoon...i took a class at archiver's last friday -- scenic route! then i am suppose to go to a missy class tonight at FKS, but i may just call and say i will pick up the kit...i will need to do a kit for the rest anyway! i have also been working on my scrapbook room some more -- today i was going through some of the paper i have collected, i also went through the drawers of stamps that never get used...

books: besides the books for power hour, i have read 4 books and have started a 5th...i am trying to keep track this year so i can see how much i actually get done...i know over the summer there will be more! i am also trying to open up my options and read more variety...and more "adult" books versus "young adult" books...one day i will be a grown up reader!! any suggestions?

church: power hour is going well, the kids are kooky and fun, but they seem to be learning a lot! we are trying a new thing with the alphabet since one of the little girls is learning it at preschool, but they look at it phoneticly, not what its name is (odd!) so now we are trying some new things...

life: not much else is happening in my life -- i get to have a wisdom tooth pulled over spring break...been trying to save some money...waiting (anxiously) for my tax documents so i can file...i need to download skype on my computer since danielle got it, and my aunt has it, and my dad has it, but i won't talk to him on it since he would only be in the next room!! LOL....we are getting u-verse from at&t in a couple weeks, i am excited about some of what we will have, but i am also sad because we will be losing hbo & cinemax...oh well!! i haven't taken a lot of photos lately, nothing too exciting has happened...

toodles!!

flurries of homework!!

flurries today -- people driving slow, a little bit stuck, a nice base for the snow that is to come in a couple of days....

i need to get off and finish some questions & journal for my wednesday night class --- we have to email them to the teacher by monday at noon, so i really need to finish!! i have 3/7 questions finished, a 4th started, some ideas on the others, and i know what i am going to journal about (1 page, how easy is that!!)....

so, although this is short, i MUST get off!! pray for a snow day some time this week, then i do a nice blog post about this past weekend that was fun!!

life is getting away from me...

i have been busy and lazy, lol...

been cleaning, and class going, and working, and homeworking...

the kids are getting stir crazy at work, and one of the students i am typically with is showing some tweenage boy "pms" -- moddy and crabby....i hope he gets some sleep and some talking to this weekend...i know he will, i just hope he comes in monday is a better mood...lots going on at work other than that, too...like a science quiz given by a sub that was supposedly about one set of things, but then had some added information, too...and the teacher was out, so it was a sub!! grrrrrrr....

other than the craziness at work -- classes started last week, so i am busy with homework and reading and fun stuff like that!!

tomorrow is cropping all day -- packed & ready to go!! plus i get to see meghan!! yay!

totally tuesdays...

same old kind of day at work -- nothing too exciting happening right now...

finished the time traveler's wife last night -- very good...i can't find my harry potter and the half blood prince book, so i am sad because i want to read it...so i am reading all-american girl instead -- it is by meg cabot who wrote the princess diaries, and i have read it before, but it is funny...

very cold here, and getting colder...oh well! it is winter after all!!!

my room is a mess -- i can't find much of anything...maybe i will have time this weekend? it is a long one, so we shall see!!

i think that's it...tomorrow i have class :) so i may not get a chance to post...

toodles.

musings on monday

just some listings of things going on right now -- musings on monday!

work is tiring -- i was able t0 spend 4 class periods in FACS....3 about the parts of the sewing machine, 1 about cooking utensils...

class starts wednesday night...i need to go on and post for my on-line class...

almost finished with The Time Traveler's Wife...i like it, but it is an odd book...it takes some getting used to, but it is a good book...

saw 2 movies in the theater on saturday, and one at home! saw "Bride Wars" -- it was GREAT! ignore the critics, they don't know what they are talking about...it is funny and nice and a good movie...i guess the critics don't like it because people end up happy in it, there is no death, or blood or gore, and only a couple "bad" words....also saw "High School Musical 3" (again) -- love it!! watched "Jumper" on HBO -- pretty good flick! it went way quicker than i thought it would...

taking this coming friday off -- going to the dentist & a class at archivers...

we're deciding on a switch to AT&T U-Verse -- any opinions??

not much else happening....toodles!

Fighting FOCA

I'm writing to let you know about a terrible piece of legislation called "The Freedom of Choice Act" (FOCA).

FOCA would establish the right to abortion as a fundamental right (like the right to free speech) and wipe away every restriction on abortion nationwide.

It will eradicate state and federal abortion laws that the majority of Americans support and prevent states from enacting similar protective measures in the future.

Please read the expert analysis by Americans United for Life (AUL) and sign the Fight FOCA petition at:
http://www.FightFOCA.com

Thank you!

Here is a link, too, to my friend Mary Jo's blog. She has a wonderful post on this today.

happy 2009 everyone!

i have been cleaning & organizing over break...also running quite a few errands...tomorrow is a few more errands (with my dad this time) and more organizing! friday, though, is scrap shopping & cropping! yay! saturday is cropping, too...sunday is power hour, then monday is back to work :( but no kids there until tuesday, so that is a nice plus...

last year i created 186 12x12 layouts, plus many of other sizes, and a lot of mini books and a few other projects...i also read over 30 middle school and above books...and numerous children's books during power hour, but i didn't keep track of those! maybe in 2009...

for 2009, i want to do more -- more for myself, more for others, more for everything! we shall see!

hugs & toodles...and may you all have a very blessed 2009!!
